Rocket Raccoon is a genetically engineered raccoon turned freelance criminal who became a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy alongside his friend Groot.

The Bounty[]
While on Xandar, Rocket and Groot attempted to capture Star-Lord for a heavy bounty price, however they were intervened by Gamora, who wants to steal an orb from Star-Lord. All four of the criminals got arrested by Nova Corpse and was sent to the Kyln, a prison in space.
Prison Break[]
Rocket saved Star-Lord's life from the prisoners on Kyln, telling them that he is his and Groot's bounty. Rocket helped Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot to escape by making plans, which lead to Drax the Destroyer escaping with them. Before they could escape, Rocket got irritated by Groot when he did his part of the plan without warning, which lead the group to improvise.
The Collector[]
They arrived on Nowhere to give the orb to The Collector, Gamora's employer for a huge price. The Collector's assistant touched the infinity stone, making a huge explosion.
Groot and Rocket escapes the explosion, but is attacked by Ronan the Accuser and Gamora's sister, Nebula. Rocket, Gamora and Star-Lord tried to keep Nebula away from the orb, but failed. Rocket returned to Groot and Drax after the battle. Rocket got convinced by Groot to save Star-Lord and Gamora from Yondu and the Ravagers.
They found Yondu's ship and threatened him to release their friend, otherwise they will destroy the ship. Star-Lord solved the problem and got Rocket, Groot and Drax aboard.
Battle Against Ronan on Xandar[]
Rocket piloted the Warbird during the battle against Ronan and his army. Rocket drove his ship into Ronan's ship and hit Ronan, also Drax by accident. When the starship starts to fall, Rocket's best friend, Groot sacrifices himself to save his friends from the crash.
After the crash, Rocket was very upset over Groot's death and started to cry. He also helped Star-Lord in defeating Ronan with the infinity stone's power. Along the rest of the team, Rocket's previous criminal records were erased. He keeps a pot with a growing Groot and stays with Star-Lord on his ship.
