The cult of Shepard ends today.

—The Clone

The Mysterious Clone is the counterpart of Commander Shepard and the primary villain in Mass Effect 3: Citadel. The Clone tries to steal the real Commander Shepard's identity and works with Maya Brooks.

Involvement[]

Not much information is available of the Clone's involvement, except that the original Commander Shepard is unaware that Cerberus had created the clone of themselves to provide spare organs to the former during their reconstruction.

Mass Effect 3: Citadel[]

Sushi Bar Fight[]

Six months later, the clone hires a private military corporation called CAT6 to help kill the original Commander Shepard while they are on shore leave. This attempt at the sushi place failed, and Shepard manages to escape to their apartment. However, the attack also uses as a cover for the clone to steal Shepard's Spectre access code.

Silversun Strip Casino Heist[]

The clone orders Maya Brooks to tie up some loose ends with an arms dealer named Elijah Khan (the casino owner).

Shepard finds a recording with the clone's audio dealings with Khan.

Battle of the Citadel Archives[]

Shepard and their squad arrives at the Archives to find the clone. It was revealed that the clone lured Shepard into another trap, letting them into the Citadel Archives. The clone orders Samantha Traynor to get the Normandy ready for an emergency launch. They leave their CAT6 mercenaries to kill the Commander and their entire squad.

It later reveals to have pretended to hold Brooks hostage, only to reveal that she is working with the clone. They reveal that they were used as a second body during the Lazarus Project if Cerberus needed a spare part for the real Commander Shepard. The clone leaves Shepard and their team trapped in a vault while it takes over the Normandy.

Final Battle on the Normandy[]

The clone has fully taken control of the Normandy and has put their "cannon fodder" CAT6 mercenaries around the ship. Shepard reaches the hanger bay and starts a fight with the clone in N7 armor and their weapons and abilities.

Shepard eventually tackles the clone, making them tumble nearly over the end of the ramp. When Shepard's teammates quickly pull them up to safety, the clone demands to know what makes Shepard so special and not them. Shepard can kick the clone out or try to help it up, but it refuses to live on. They fall to their death after the fight.
